Part 3 (FULL ENDING) . Thank you so much!
Arthur collapsed heavily into the visitor chair, the monitor behind Chloe beeping frantically as nurses rushed to stabilize the newborn. But the tension in the room was so thick that the medical staff froze in their tracks. The sight of two identical men—one broken by decades of betrayal, the other radiating smug triumph—turned the luxury maternity wing into an absolute warzone.
“Get out,” Arthur whispered, his voice cracking with twenty-five years of agony. “Get out of my sight before I call the police.”
“Call them,” Julian laughed, tossing the bouquet of lilies onto the vanity table where the petals scattered over the broken coffee cup. “The financial fraud expired years ago, Arthur. There are no warrants out for me. But there is a little matter of the Vance Family Trust. When our father wrote the charter, he stipulated that sixty percent of the commercial portfolio passes down strictly through the direct lineage of his chosen heir. Eleanor and I made sure Chloe was registered as your legal daughter, but genetically, she carries the blood of the eldest twin—mine.”
Eleanor scurried over to Julian’s side, shedding every shred of loyalty she had ever faked toward my father. “It’s over, Arthur,” she said, her voice dripping with malice. “You were always the boring, predictable brother. Julian gave me passion, and he gave me Chloe. We let you play the proud father because you had the clean public record and the corporate board seats to build the company value. Now that Chloe has an heir, the trust allows an immediate liquidation payout. We’re taking our share and leaving.”
Chloe let out a gut-wrenching sob, shrinking back into the hospital pillows. “Mom… you used me? My whole life was just a scheme to steal Dad’s money?”
“Don’t be dramatic, Chloe,” Eleanor snapped, not even looking at her daughter. “You lived like a princess, didn’t you? You got everything you ever pointed your finger at while your sister got scraps.”
I felt a surge of white-hot anger, but before I could step between them, Grandma Evelyn’s cane struck the linoleum floor with a sharp, resounding crack.
“You always were too arrogant for your own good, Julian,” the old woman said, her voice commanding, stripping away every ounce of frail grandmotherly weakness. “You think you’re the smartest man in the room, but you forgot one very simple detail about your father’s will.”
Julian sneered, stepping closer to his mother. “Mother, don’t try to bluff me. I drafted the corporate amendments myself in ninety-eight.”
“You drafted the amendments, but you didn’t read the codicil filed after your fake suicide,” Evelyn replied coldly. She turned to me and reached into her handbag, pulling out a sealed legal folio stamped by the New York Surrogate’s Court. “Maya, hand this to your father.”
I took the envelope and handed it to Arthur. His hands shook violently as he tore open the wax seal.
“When Julian faked his death, he committed civil fraud under New York state law,” Evelyn explained, addressing the room with absolute authority. “Our family attorney and I documented every offshore transaction Eleanor made over the last twenty-four years. We knew Julian was hiding in South America, waiting for the statute of limitations to expire. So, your father and I quietly updated the trust: any heir proven to be conceived through fraudulent misrepresentation or infidelity is legally barred from claiming a single penny. Furthermore, the estate automatically transfers in full to the biological child of Arthur Vance.”
Eleanor’s sneer instantly melted. “Arthur has no biological child! Maya was born during our separation—”
“Maya is my daughter,” Arthur cut in, his voice rising with a roar of pure, unadulterated conviction. He looked at the legal papers, tears streaming down his hollow cheeks. Attached to the court documents was a certified paternity test from twenty-eight years ago—a test Eleanor had buried, lying to Arthur that I wasn’t his so he would neglect me and pour his fortune into Chloe.
Arthur stood up, towering over his brother. The despair that had crushed him moments ago was replaced by absolute fury. “Maya has my blood, my heart, and now, every single square foot of the Vance legacy. Security!”
Arthur slammed the emergency call button on the hospital wall. Within seconds, four armed private security officers, already alerted by the head nurse, entered the room with hospital administrators.
“Escort these two trespassers off the property,” Arthur commanded, pointing directly at Julian and Eleanor. “If either of them sets foot on Vance Commercial properties, my residence, or near my daughter Maya, have them arrested for harassment.”
Julian’s smug expression twisted into a snarl of desperation. He grabbed Eleanor’s wrist, pulling her toward the exit as security flanked them. Eleanor turned back, crying out for Chloe, but Chloe simply turned her back, weeping softly into her baby’s blanket.
When the heavy doors clicked shut, the silence in the room was finally peaceful. Arthur turned around slowly, looking at me as if seeing me clearly for the very first time in his life. He fell to his knees in front of me, wrapping his arms around my waist and sobbing into my sweater, begging for forgiveness for every birthday he had forgotten and every cruel word he had ever spoken.
I knelt down with him, holding his shaking shoulders. Beside us, Grandma Evelyn smiled gently, resting her hand on Chloe’s trembling shoulder to comfort the innocent young mother who had been used as a pawn. The golden sister had lost her illusion of perfection, but in the ruins of our family’s darkest lie, my father and I finally found the truth.
