Part 3 (FULL ENDING) . Thank you so much!
Part 3
The screech of tires cut through the quiet afternoon air like an alarm. Through the tinted glass of the limousine, I watched four men in tactical windbreakers step out of the black SUVs, their weapons drawn and leveled directly at our vehicle. My heart hammered against my ribs so violently I could barely draw breath, but Leo didn’t even flinch. He reached into the compartment beneath the armrest, pulled out a satellite radio, and pressed a single button on the dashboard.
“Alpha team, execute,” Leo said calmly into the mic.
Before the armed men could even reach the Maybach’s doors, sirens screamed in the distance. Two unmarked tactical vans barreled onto the highway shoulder from the adjacent access ramp, cutting off their escape. Flashing blue and red lights flooded the asphalt as Federal Bureau of Investigation agents poured out, subduing the gunmen against the hoods of their vehicles within seconds.
I pressed my back against the leather seat, staring at the man wearing my groom’s suit. “Who are you, really?”
Leo set the radio down, his eyes softening as he looked at me. “When we were sixteen, Julian set the fire that burned down our family’s estate. He wanted our father’s insurance payout early, and he locked me in the cellar so I would take the blame. I survived, but barely. When my father passed away shortly after, Julian used corrupt doctors and forged medical evaluations to have me declared legally incompetent. He threw me into an asylum so he could control my half of the family fortune.”
The raw grief in his voice made the air in the limousine feel thick and heavy.
“Julian thought he had buried me alive,” Leo continued, a cold shadow crossing his face. “He paid the clinic staff to keep me heavily sedated, but money only buys loyalty until someone offers more. Six years ago, I struck a deal with the director. I wasn’t sick, Clara. I used those years inside that private room to study forensic accounting, corporate law, and international finance. When federal investigators began building a RICO case against Victoria Sterling’s father for international arms and money laundering, they needed an insider on the Vance family accounts. Julian was an arrogant narcissist who thought he was a criminal mastermind, but he was sloppy. The bureau came to me.”
“So this entire wedding…” I stammered, piecing together the horrifying reality. “Julian thought he was using you to commit fraud, but you were setting a trap.”
“Julian thought he was playing the ultimate con,” Leo said, turning his phone toward me. “He told me that if I stood at the altar, stayed quiet, and let you say ‘I do,’ he would finally sign my release papers from the facility and give me a modest allowance. He thought I was terrified of him. He thought my silence was weakness. But by stepping into his place, I gave the authorities the legal authority to intercept every single account under the Vance name.”
Leo tapped the screen of the tablet sitting on the console. It displayed a live camera feed inside an exclusive five-star resort in Bali.
The video showed a sunlit terrace overlooking the turquoise ocean. Julian was lounging in linen trousers, holding a glass of vintage champagne, laughing carelessly as Victoria Sterling leaned against his chest. Julian’s phone was resting on the marble table beside him.
Suddenly, Julian’s phone chimed with a frantic succession of notifications. In the video, Julian sat upright, spilling his drink across the glass table. His face drained of color as he scrambled to unlock the screen.
“Every single offshore account Julian touched has been frozen,” Leo explained, his voice low and steady. “The forty million dollars he tried to steal from your family trust bounced straight into a federal holding lockbox. Furthermore, because he forged power-of-attorney documents to use my name as a front for his illegal transactions, his own private accounts—every cent of his eight-figure personal net worth—has been permanently seized as evidence of racketeering.”
On the screen, Indonesian federal police officers, accompanied by interpol agents, marched through the terrace doors. Julian leaped up, screaming and gesturing wildly, but an officer grabbed his arm, forced him to the stone floor, and clamped heavy metal cuffs around his wrists. Victoria backed away, shouting in outrage, but two female officers caught her by the arms and dragged her toward the exit. Julian’s face, pressed against the cold stone of the terrace, was contorted in sheer, unadulterated panic.
He had flown to Bali thinking he had won the game, only to end up in an international holding cell without a single penny to hire a lawyer.
“Julian is facing thirty years in federal prison for conspiracy, wire fraud, and grand larceny,” Leo said, turning the screen off. “He will never touch your family, your company, or this city again.”
The silence inside the limousine felt deafening. I looked down at the wedding ring on my finger, then across at Leo. The terrified, stuttering boy from the altar was completely gone, replaced by a man who had endured a decade of hell, outsmarted his tormentor, and saved my family from utter financial ruin.
“And what about us?” I asked softly. “In the eyes of the law, I just married Julian Vance’s twin brother.”
Leo reached over and gently covered my hand with his. His grip was warm, steady, and without an ounce of deceit.
“The paperwork is valid, Clara, but you don’t owe me anything. My lawyers can file for an immediate annulment based on misrepresentation before the sun sets today. You can walk away completely free, your company intact, and your name cleared.”
I looked into his steady, honest amber eyes. For three years, Julian had manipulated me, lied to my face, and treated me like a pawn in his games of greed. Yet here was a man who had every reason to be bitter, who had risked his own freedom to dismantle a criminal empire, offering me an effortless way out.
“Let’s not call the lawyers just yet,” I said, a faint smile touching my lips as I squeezed his hand. “First, I think we have an expensive reception to attend.”
Leo stared at me in stunned surprise, before a genuine, brilliant smile broke across his face for the very first time. We directed the driver to turn back toward the city lights, leaving the wreckage of Julian’s shattered empire far behind us.
